BenRiach 'Authenticus' Released
A
2nd peated malt from BenRiach Distillery, BenRiach 'Authenticus',
will be released week commencing Monday 24th October.
Aged
over 21 years old, 'Authenticus' is the 'big brother' to the
hugely popular 'Curiositas', our existing peated BenRiach (aged
over 10 years old), which will of course continue.
As
fans of BenRiach Malt Whisky will already know, 'Curiositas'
is the only Speyside malt whisky commercially available that
is distilled from peated malted barley - that is until the addition
of 'Authenticus'!
Peated
BenRiach is actually a return to the style of whisky produced
on Speyside during the 19th century, before the development
of the railroads made coal a more economic choice of fuel than
peat, and before the emergence of the US market (and their preference
for a lighter style of whisky) caused Speyside distillers to
alter the character of their spirit.
Production
of 'Authenticus' will be strictly limited to just 800 six-packs
per annum, which is less than 5000 bottles to satisfy world-demand.
Every bottle will be filled at 46% alc. vol., non chill-filitered
and at natural colour.
Given
the age, limited availability and unique nature of 'Authenticus',
we anticipate that the initial production of 800 cases will
be depleted at a slightly quicker pace than the 21 years it
has taken to bring the product to the market!
